Résidant à l’Anse-St-Jean au Québec, Marc Grandbois s'initie très jeune à la peinture au côté de sa mère elle-même artiste-peintre. Il complète ses Beaux-Arts à l'Université Concordia en 1991 et gagne rapidement une certaine notoriété comme peintre aquarelliste entre 1992 et 2002. Parallèlement à sa production, il enseigne la peinture et le dessin et participe à de nombreux symposiums aux quatre coins de la province.

 Las de l’incertitude financière souvent associée à la vie d’artiste, il met de côté chevalet et pinceaux pour une bonne dizaine d'années se contentant de peindre à l’occasion et accepter quelques contrats. En 2010, Il quitte la Mauricie pour le Saguenay. La beauté exceptionnelle du paysage et l’environnement unique du fjord motivent cette décision et seront les éléments déclencheur à un retour à sa première passion; la peinture. Le paysage nordique est depuis toujours sa source première d'inspiration. Son œuvre se caractérise par la priorité donnée à l’atmosphère, le coup de pinceau désinvolte mais juste et la richesse de coloris. Sa palette, tantôt subtile, tantôt fauve s’ajuste au gré des ambiances qu’il veut créer. ‘’Je crois fermement que l'art figuratif, en particulier le paysage, demeure très actuel s'il transcende le narratif et devient en quelque sorte une base à l'expérimentation de la gestuelle, de la couleur et de la lumière’’. Membre signataire de l'IAF, on retrouve les œuvres de Marc Grandbois dans plusieurs galeries et collections publiques / privées au Canada et à l’étranger.

Resident of L'Anse Saint-Jean in Quebec, Marc Grandbois began painting at a very young age alongside his mother herself a painter. He completed his Fine Arts at Concordia University in 1991 and rapidly gained a certain notoriety as a watercolor painter between 1992 and 2002. In parallel to his production, he taught painting and drawing. He also participates in numerous painting events and exhibitions across the province and south of the border.
Tired of the financial uncertainty often associated with the life of an artist, he sets aside the easel and the brushes a good ten years painting only occasionally and accepting a few contracts. In 2010, he left the Mauricie for the Saguenay. The exceptional beauty of the landscape and the unique environment of the fjord motivate this decision and will be the triggers for a return to its first passion; the painting. The Nordic landscape has always been a source of inspiration. His work is characterized by the priority given to the atmosphere, the brushstroke casual but fair and the richness of color. His palette, sometimes subtle, sometimes fauve, adjusts to suit the ambiences he wants to create. "I firmly believe that figurative art, especially the landscape, remains very current if it transcends the narrative and in a way becomes a basis for experimenting with gestures, color and light." Signature member of the IAF, Marc Grandbois's works are found in galleries and several public and private collections in Canada and abroad.
